An industrial robotic arm carrying a parabolic reflective structure operates as a slowly moving spatial instrument. By continuously changing the orientation and position of the parabola, the robot redirects light, reflections and shadows throughout the surrounding architecture.
The work borrows its visual language from radio astronomy and remote sensing. The parabola functions not as a conventional radio telescope, but as an extension of the robot’s perceptual body — suggesting a machine searching for, receiving and responding to signals in its environment.
Spatial sensors and environmental data can additionally be mapped to movement and sound, creating a continuous relationship between the installation and the space in which it is situated.
