Codex Regius
2026 | a scenic music ritual from the poetic Edda
Codex Regius is a 55-minute interdisciplinary stage work by the composer duo Vento Nero, drawing on two foundational texts from Codex Regius — Hávamál (Words of the High One) and Völuspá (The Seeress’ Prophecy). The work unfolds as a contemporary ritual where ancient Nordic poetry meets cutting-edge stage technology, exploring themes of knowledge, prophecy, ethics, collapse, and renewal.
For this work, Vento Nero appears under the Old Norse name Svartr Vindr, gathering an ensemble of musicians, performers, robotics, projections, and scenographic elements.
Through live music, voice, robotics, and immersive projections, the performance reactivates the Eddic texts not as historical artefacts, but as living material — resonant with the existential and societal questions of our time.
